A list of healthy habits I have adopted over the years. The list keeps growing so check back frequently.
1. I love music - so I have it playing most all the time. It's a great mood lifter and energizer.
2. I shop before I drop (grocery shopping that is)...I know I need to shop BEFORE I run out of the foods that keep me going on a solid path...so filling up when you have a 1/4 tank left, is a good rule for kitchens, as well as cars~
3. My shopping list always includes these items:
Water, water and more water...
Milk
Fish, Turkey or Chicken, but mostly fish (Salmon and Tuna)
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
Whole grain breads/rolls
Non fat muffins (just because I like them)
Cheerios (because I like them too)
4. When I bring home fresh vegetables - I cut up the veggies and package them in serving size baggies, so they are ready for "grab and go" ...this is a wonderful approach that has served me well.
5. I eat fruit for breakfast....I have melon mostly, then grapes, oranges or some other juicy fruit first thing in the morning.
6. I surround myself with healthy people...those who want the best for themselves and work at being positive.
7. Since I love music, it is no secret that I would use music to motivate my workouts...I workout 5-6 times a week. From walking to being at the gym....it all works and I need a workout to feel my best.
8. I stopped buying 2 things for home, because I couldn't manage the amount of my intake...cheese and chocolate. I will buy a single serving size, but I don't buy either of these in bulk packages. My resistance is too low on both these items, so I manage myself better by having them when I am out and in controlled amounts.
9. I regularly invite friends for "walk and talk time" vs. sitting and having coffee. We will instead talk while enjoying a walk or hike, and have time for coffee afterwards. We get the best of both worlds this way.
10. I avoid watching TV ...the commercials make me anxious, so I avoid watching TV altogether, with an occasional exception, maybe once or twice a week...I stick to watching movies, without commericials.
